About

Hello, I am the silver-haired Tony behind behind SilverTone Studio. I like the connection to the noble metal which was the foundation of the photographic medium and whose traditional form still retains a strong following today.

Black and white photographic film is essentially a minute layer of silver halides trapped in a layer of emulsion and when exposed to light, and later accelerated by a developing agent, forms an image of “negative” graduated grey tones.

I set up my first home dark room in my Randwick flat bathroom in 1983. For the last 41 years I have explored the wonders of this photographic medium and still marvel at its creative possibilities. In the intervening years I have also embraced digital technology and gratefully recognise its value, particularly in its ability to render wonderful colour images in low light situations.

I use a variety of Nikon and Epson scanning equipment and use the latest Silverfast software when scanning negatives. I have a wide range of film and digital camera equipment and a fully functional traditional black and white darkroom. I can produce traditional silver gelatin prints up to 16×20 inch (40×50 cm) format.

At SilverTone Studio I am interested in providing a highly personalised service with an emphasis on satisfying the demands and desires of clients to their tastes and budget.

I would love the opportunity to develop or print your photos, record events, preserve your family history or otherwise help in creating or organising your digital images. Please feel free to contact me to discuss what you have, what you want, and what you would like to do with it! Contact form or email inquiries will be promptly addressed.

Cheers,

Tony Egan
