My Great Grandparents Mick and Daisy. This is a classic large, double weight sepia-toned, and hand coloured photograph typical of the studios of the day. Probably taken in Murwillumbah or Lismore in Northern NSW in the 1930s. It was originally displayed in a large oval frame but was passed down to family members on the distribution of the estate of Mick and Daisy’s daughter-in-law.
I re-photographed the original and corrected ageing marks and faults. It was cropped square with parts of the background cloned to clean up the corners of the image. Minor colour and contrast adjustments were made with the intent of retaining the original look and feel of this portrait.
My Grandfather Jack taken in the Middle East during his second world war service, circa 1943. The original is a small postcard sent to his family.
I scanned the postcard and made numerous corrections to eliminate spots and creases. I then cropped it slightly and made tone and contrast adjustments.
My Grandparents Jim and Thelma. Another example of classic sepia toned and hand-coloured black and white photograph. I remember this hanging on my grandparent’s wall in their home in Condong, NSW, the location of many childhood holidays.
I re-photographed the original which was in mostly excellent condition after being removed from a damaged frame. Some minor corrections to ageing spots and creases was made followed by slight adjustments to colour and tone, respecting the original character. This was taken in the late 1940s.
